AMOR + HOPE

A HOME MADE INSTALLATION DURING THE QUARANTINE

The last few years have been really bad for the world, seeing pictures taken in all different countries and on the  seas, reporting trash floating around creating a big island or abandoned mountainous made just by refuse of human beings.

At the beginning of 2020 we had the spread of coronavirus, that I read like a consequence of this destruction of ecosystems.

Some month ago I made a general proposal for an artistic installation that played with scrap materials, trying to transform them into other objects to inspire people. In a kaleidoscopic collage, the little pieces were arranged into various word compositions. Recycled, leftover materials of different natures were transformed in “talking sculpture”: metal, wood, plastic, glass, fabric…anything is good to be assembled to create words like visionary, future, us, antithesis, positive, diversity, believe, hope…. During the night, each of the words became just one illuminated saying “AMOR”, because I think the great changes are possible through the love.

Starting from this idea, during the quarantine period, I tried to create this light installation with the scrap material I had at home (mostly wood). And the result was a nice “lamp” with two strong words: AMOR and HOPE.

The message is try to create new things starting from what we already have, without forcing to produce new goods.
