STRATEGY FOR PUBLIC OCCUPATION_from idea to the strategy

The premise:   “how to make the occupation easier?”

Two possibilities:
a.    Give fixed rules to act;
b.    Provide flexible and creative strategy of occupation, leaving the person free to act.

..but..  “what to make easier?”

The occupation … of the space
The comunication … to the world
The aggregation … among people

..and.. “how?” …  We designed the “do ACT yourself”, a kit to face a civil action.

Our objective is to provide the protesters with a special equipment to facilitate the occupation of public spaces during civil actions, in order to improve communication and aggregation. Since public assemblies and peaceful occupations of public spaces, street protest marches are usually dynamic, considering the aspects of movement, action and communication, the “d.A.y.” has been conceived as a flexible tool adapting itself to all possible situations occurring during the protests.

The “d.A.y.” is composed by 4 elements assembled in a single object. They are ordinary objects in current use that have apparently nothing in common. All the elements are modular, flexible and easily transportable not to impede movements. Combining them in a creative way,  they generate a  series of new objects.
The elements are:

1. one suitcase belt
2. one portable pool ladder
3. one washable poster
4. one inflatable blanket

Examples of possible combinations:
. belt + ladder + whiteboard + blanket =  the long bench for more comfortable sit-in during the occupation;
. whiteboard + whiteboard + whiteboard (ad infinitum) = the great blank page to write the personal messages of protest and create  aggregation;
. inflatable blanket + belt + whiteboard = totem for communication with creative panels.
